The structure is subjected to various forces and combinations such as, High tide, Earthquake, High winds, heavy live loads as per IS: 4651-1983. The berth is to be designed for a vessel having capacity of 5000DWT. It’s an open piled bored cast-in-situ structure and lying in the seismic zone III. This design project is focusing on analysis and design of 2nd passenger berth at Beypore port, Kozhikode.

In this analysis two materials are selected and analyzed. Static analysis is done to determine von-misses stresses, strain, shear stress and total deformation and comparing the results for different aspects of design like stress concentration due to sudden change in the cross section and factor of safety for static load condition. Analysis has done by using ANSYS (APDL) software. A parametric model of connecting rod is modeled using CRE-O (2.0) software. In the present investigation a 4-stroke petrol engine of a specified model Hero splendor, market available connecting rod is selected for the static load analysis. The connecting rod is therefore considered as a key component in terms of reliability and performance of an engine. It transmits push and pulls from the piston pin to the crank pin with the help of pressure of burnt gases in the engine piston cylinder thus converting the reciprocating motion of piston into rotamotion of the crank.
